You are not lazy, you are exhausted.

“Honor Resting.”

Why Am I So Unmotivated? Why Am I Lazy?

Why can’t I stick with that fitness program? Why do I feel so flat and unproductive? What is wrong with me?

Do you hear these questions in your head weekly or even daily? Are you being hard on yourself?

In a society that constantly values high performance and productivity, it's tough not to feel inadequate. This pressure only adds to the exhaustion so many people are feeling, ultimately leading to burnout. Many of us carry the deep-seated belief of “I am not good enough,” and this belief only intensifies when we're unable to keep up with the relentless pace of life.

But here's the truth: there is nothing wrong with you. If anything, it's the system that pushes us to overdrive, equating success with financial gains and external accolades.

In this blog, I’m not going to dive into the deep causes of “I am not enough.” Instead, I want to offer you a compassionate voice. A friend who tells you that it’s okay to rest. It’s okay to spend a day in bed if your body and mind need to recover. It’s okay to say no to social engagements or to turn down that extra project your boss wants to pile on you. It’s okay to prioritize your physical, mental, and emotional health.

We’ve glorified “being busy” to the point that it’s become a badge of honor. But when did “busy” become a feeling? A state of being? It’s become an excuse to neglect our health, our relationships, and the things that truly matter. For many, “being busy” hides the truth—truths like feeling disconnected, anxious, depressed, or even physically unwell.

So, what happens if we slow down and rest? The truth rises. But if we’re not ready for that truth, we push it down, and anxiety becomes a shield, protecting us from confronting what’s really going on. Holding these emotions below the surface takes an enormous amount of energy.

This cycle is soul-crushing. Not literally, but the slow death of our inner self—the part that wants to express emotions, voice opinions, share gifts, and live authentically. We begin to wither away like a plant deprived of light and water.

In our society, there are countless foods, drugs, and distractions designed to keep us going, like zombies. We’re constantly told to push harder.

But I’m here to say: stop. Pause. Rest. Deeply rest.

I glorify rest. I admire those who honor their health, their families, and even those who quit their corporate jobs to choose life over burnout.

In this physical body, time is not always on our side. But at the same time, if we had all the time in the world, we might never find true meaning in our lives. Every minute is precious; we’ll never get it back.

Time and energy are our greatest assets. While we can’t control time, we can take charge of our energy.

So, how are you managing your physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual energy?

What harmonizes nature is balance. We are nature. Just as nature balances energy out with energy in, so must we. Rest and recovery can save us from the health crisis we are collectively facing. It is one of the most important things you can do if you are constantly feeling tired.

Your life may be calling for many lifestyle changes, but before you can make those changes, you need energy. And to gain energy, first, you must rest.

You are not lazy. You’re just tired.

Much love,

Alex
